Bahrain GP

The fourth race of the 2025 F1 season will take place in Bahrain at the Bahrain International Circuit. This circuit has often served as the season opener in recent years, but this year, the event is scheduled a little later.

Formula 1 Bahrain GP

The Bahrain Grand Prix has been part of the F1 calendar since 2004, with the Sakhir circuit frequently serving as the opening round of the Formula 1 season. The Bahrain International Circuit is located about thirty kilometers outside the capital, Manama. During the race weekend, not only are the cars pushed to their limits in the desert of Sakhir, but F1 drivers must also keep their cool as it’s scorching hot and dark!

F1 Bahrain Grand Prix 2025

In the heart of the desert, drivers have only a few days to adjust to the weather in Bahrain. They must, as the race requires pushing as hard as possible on the straights. Bahrain is characterized by four long straight sections of asphalt where the most powerful engine will make the difference. In 2004, Formula 1 drivers raced for the first time on the circuit. At that time, the race weekend was the third GP on the F1 calendar. It was the first-ever Formula 1 race in the Middle East. Back then, drivers started during the day, but since 2014, the event has taken place in the dark every year. The world-famous circuit designer Hermann Tilke delivered an interesting design with the Bahrain International Circuit. The track in Bahrain was one of the first in a long series of new circuits from his pen. Notable features include the long straights, where the engine is more important than the chassis. It is the ultimate test to see which engine manufacturer will come out on top during this event.

Bahrain GP 2025 Date

Bahrain GP Results 2024

The 2024 F1 season started in Bahrain, oddly enough, on a Saturday. Verstappen started from pole position and turned it into a rather dominant victory. The Dutchman had over a twenty-second lead over his nearest competitor, teammate Sergio Pérez. After an absolutely dominant performance in 2023, where Red Bull won 22 out of 23 races, it seemed that this would again be the trend following the first GP of 2024. Additionally, Ferrari had made a strong start to the F1-2024 season opener, with their drivers securing third and fourth places in the desert.

Max Verstappen in the Bahrain GP

Max Verstappen has often faced a challenging weekend in Bahrain. In 2017 and 2018, he encountered issues, such as retiring due to brake problems and a crash during qualifying. His first finish with Red Bull came in 2019 when he finished in fourth place. After five attempts, Verstappen finally secured his long-awaited first podium in Sakhir in 2020. In 2021, the Dutchman even secured pole position but had to concede victory to title rival Lewis Hamilton during the race. In 2022, he was plagued by technical problems and again faced a retirement. In the 2023 F1 season, Verstappen won the Bahrain GP for the first time, and in 2024, the Red Bull driver repeated that feat.
