Yuki Tsunoda was having a good session and was staying on the heels of Max Verstappen just before his crash. Unfortunately, Tsunoda made a mistake, causing an early end to FP2.
With eight minutes on the clock, Tsunoda was only three places off Verstappen, who was in third. He was doing a good job staying within reach of his teammate before it all went wrong for the new Red Bull driver.

However, with only seven minutes to go, Tsunoda clipped the inner wall on the final corner which caused his suspension to break. Because of this, he then crashed into the right wall and sustained further damange.
The red flag was immediately raised, and the session was stopped. While it was resumed, it was only resumed with 45 seconds on the clock, allowing the drivers time to complete one lap.
