The fifth round of the 2025 Formula 1 season and last race of the first triple header continues with the second free practice session from the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Follow the second session of action at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit here with GPBlog.
Pierre Gasly set the fastest time during the first session of the Saudi Arabia GP weekend. The Alpine driver's lap time was a 1:29.239. Lando Norris finished in second, while Charles Leclerc rounded off the Top 3 in Jeddah.
Oscar Piastri finished in P4 ahead of Alex Albon and George Russell, after the Australian made a mistake on his quickest lap.
With new engine components fitted in their cars for the second weekend in a row at Red Bull, Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda finished in P9 and P10 respectively, just behind Lewis Hamilton.
In only four races, the World Drivers' Championship battle has heated up. While Norris has more years under his belt, Piastri is already contesting his lead. Another battle is ongoing for third place with Russell hot on the heels of Verstappen. Russell is only six points away from Verstappen and if Russell can continue his streak of podiums, he will soon over take Verstappen. The same could be said for Piastri as if he places first with Norris in second, he will become the leader of the WDC.
