Both Liam Lawson and Isack Hadjar both portray their "excitement" for the Miami Grand Prix this weekend, but both drivers know there will be a lot of challenges that present themselves. The
F1 circus will travel to Florida for the sixth race weekend of the season, which is also the second sprint weekend of the year.
Miami has only hosted a total of three Grand Prix in its time, with the fourth to take place this weekend, and as a result, there has been little chance for the less experienced drivers, such as Lawson and Hadjar, to gain an understanding of the
Miami International Autodrome.
Lawson doing "everything he can" to achieve his first points
Although Lawson has shown that he hasn't lost his talent
since his return to Racing Bulls, he is still searching for his first points of the season.
In Saudi Arabia, he finished twelfth, two places behind his teammate, just missing out on a points-paid position. Although he will have two chances to score points in Miami with the sprint race and the Grand Prix, it remains to be seen if this will be successful.
"I'm super pumped to be going to Miami," Lawson said, previewing the weekend ahead.
"Although I’ve been here as a reserve driver, it’s the first time on track for me at the race. The atmosphere looks super cool and exciting, so it’s going to be a great feeling racing for VCARB there."
However, with the lack of experience and the added element of the sprint weekend, the New Zealander knows it'll be a challenging weekend.
"It’s a Sprint weekend too, and the heat is going to be tough, so I’m doing everything I can to prepare for that while working hard to learn the track. I can’t wait to get out there.“
Hadjar Wants to Continue Momentum
Teammate Isack Hadjar will race in the United States for the first time this coming weekend, hoping to continue his impressive start in his rookie campaign.
"This weekend will be my first time racing in the United States, which means it’s definitely exciting. It’s going to be a massive week for our team, and I’ve heard the atmosphere is great in Miami, so I’m looking forward to driving this track," the French-Algerian driver stated.
It's been a fine start to 2025 for Isack Hadjar, scoring five points this season, most recently with a P10 at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix
The momentum has been something that has continued to buoy Hadjar as he now enters his sixth F1 race of his career, and he will be looking to continue that with another great weekend.
"We have good momentum at the moment, and I hope this will be another circuit that suits us, with a lot of slow-speed corners. It’s going to be very warm and I think we’re going to have a good shot at it,” he concluded.
