Red Bull team boss Christian Horner does not seem to be worried about the Formula 1 championship for the 2024 season just yet. Max Verstappen is the championship leader by a considerable distance, but the gap in the constructors' championship is a bit smaller. Still, Horner thinks he knows what needs to be done.

Horner begins by listing the statistics this season. "Ten races means there's still a chunk of points, but out of the first 14 we have won seven. We've qualified first at nine of them. We have won two sprint races. So this weekend is important because they are all in the race for the end of the championship," said the team boss.

Nevertheless, Horner is still confident of a good finish. Asked about McLaren's competition, the Brit responded: "Absolutely, and that's because we haven't had both cars up there. We're aware of that. We've taken engine penalties, and we've had DNFs. We're very clear on what we need to do and turn around, and I’m confident we will."

Red Bull at Zandvoort

Verstappen finished fifth, and Sergio Perez 12th during the second free practice at Zandvoort. Both McLarens and both Mercedes were in the top four, unlike Red Bull. It remains to be seen whether Red Bull will be able to get ahead of the competition this weekend. Saturday afternoon at 15:00 is the qualifying session for the Dutch Grand Prix. Of course, it can all be followed with GPblog's liveblog.
