Ferrari had a difficult start to the season. Other than Lewis Hamilton winning the Sprint in China, the team are yet to finish on the podium. The Briton reflected on what he is still learning with his new team.
The Bahrain Grand Prix showed a more promising Ferrari, but in the end, Charles Leclerc and Hamilton finished in P4 and P5 respectively.
The seven-time world champion explained in Jeddah that he made changes over the 57 laps to improve his pace, and this is something he would like to replicate.
"That's the goal. I think it was a little positive to have that stint and have that experience with the car. Some changes that I made in my driving style during the race, and so not implicating that, but that every time I go out in the car it's easy to automatically go back to your old driving style. So that's something I need to make sure I continue to practice," he told GPblog among others in Saudi Arabia.
The Briton also believes it is something he can build on as the season progresses.
"I think it's applicable. As I said, it's just, if you look at my driving style, particularly back in 2021 and before, worked well with that trim on the car, and this driving style that I have, and maybe others already have and I know for sure Charles, I think, has had it since he's been here for some years," he explained.
"It's just new. It's like, naturally, when the pressure builds up and you need to really pull out that extra bit of time, you can easily fall to your old ways. And I've seen lots of this through testing, but to actually adapt to it and actually utilise it every single time is something I want to work on," he concluded.
