When is the 2025 Miami Grand Prix?

The sixth race of the 2025 season kicks off this weekend at the Miami Grand Prix, with the title fight shaping up to be yet another classic. Here is the full schedule for the first Grand Prix weekend in America.

McLaren looking to emulate 2024 success

Last year, the Miami Grand Prix was a key event in the 2024 season, changing the complexion of the title battle in its entirety with Lando Norris' victory.

The Brit crossed the line in P1 to take his first-ever win in the pinnacle of motorsport, also giving McLaren their first win in two-and-a-half years to catapult themselves to the front of the grid, going on to win the 2024 constructors' championship that year.

This year, the papaya-coloured team emerged as clear favourites to retain their title, and with four wins out of five to start the season, they have done so, with Oscar Piatri taking three of them to lead the drivers' standings.

However, after a few struggles during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix that saw McLaren have issues wth tyre degradation and second phase race pace, something they excelled at in 2024, the door is wide open for teams to challenge in Miami, setting up the potential for a fantastic race weekend.

Miami Grand Prix Schedule 

For the second race weekend this season, the Miami Grand Prix is a sprint race weekend, meaning there will only be one free practice session this week, racking up the pressure on the teams to get the set-up just right before they have the Sprint Shootout.

Friday 2 May:

Free Practice 1: 12:30-13:30 local time (17:30-18:30 BST)

Sprint Qualifying: 16:30-17:14 local time (21:30-22:14 BST)

Saturday 3 May:

Sprint: 12:00-13:00 local time (17:00-18:00 BST)

Qualifying: 16:00-17:00 local time (21:00-22:00)

Sunday 4 May:

Race: 16:00 local time (21:00 BST)
