Mick Schumacher lapped the Yas Marina circuit 113 times during the Young Driver Test and has thus gained a wealth of experience for his Formula 1 debut in 2021. The German does not care that he was at the bottom of the timesheet.
Schumacher will make his debut with Haas in 2021, together with Nikita Mazepin. Schumacher won the Formula 2 championship in 2020, but during the Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi, Schumacher really felt the difference between F1 and F2. According to Michael Schumacher's son, the difference is very big.
"With a day like this you feel extra ready for it," Schumacher told the German RTL after the Young Driver Test. ''I'm extra motivated now and it was just so much fun that you actually keep on driving for the next few days and preferably the rest of the week. I'm looking forward to the start in Barcelona," says the driver of Haas.
''It's a big difference from Formula 2 to Formula 1. The longruns are so fast, that's really fun. The feeling is also just good, because you can always keep pushing. That's something I missed in the F2," the German concludes. Schumacher can now go on a well-deserved holiday, to be ready in Barcelona for the start of the F1 season of 2021. That's where the season starts with the winter tests.
