Lando Norris has admitted that he is "disappointed" in himself after his teammate Oscar Piastri claimed his second win during a McLaren-dominated start to the 2025 season, after a tough round in Bahrain.
Having finished the Bahrain Grand Prix in P3 after his teammate Piastri claimed another win, Norris had a few negative things to say about his performance over the weekend during the post-race press conference.
"When I know what I can do and what I’m capable of, and I’m not even close to reaching that – like yesterday – I’m very disappointed in myself. That’s just the way I am. I’m just so hungry to win and I work so hard to win."
The British driver qualified P6 in Bahrain after a difficult qualifying session, whilst Piastri came up on top with a pole that helped pushed him to win the Grand Prix on Sunday. The younger Mclaren driver now lurks behind Norris with only 3 points separating the teammates.
"I’ve learned how to block my own comments away from my thoughts. Maybe sometimes I lack a bit of self-belief, and I have done in the past. But this is just also me."
The driver reflected on his own capabilities when asked whether he had been too negative towards himself this race weekend, to which he justified with his winning mentality.
However, Norris found hope for himself, "I know what I can do and I’m happy. I think what I can do and what I can achieve is good enough and easily up there with the best. So I just need to get back in that rhythm."
"And yes, maybe sometimes I’m too hard on myself – like yesterday. But I came back today after a nice sleep, re-energised, new day and good to go again and put up a good fight, which I felt like I kind of did."
He concluded, "Today was a new day, and I have a few days off now to recover and go again."
