F1 champion, Max Verstappen has sniped back at David Croft after being pressed on whether he would leave Red Bull or not.

During the Bahrain Grand Prix, Verstappen endured what's been the most difficult race he's had in recent years.

Sky Sports commentator, David Croft used the race in Sakhir where the Dutchman could only finish P6 after a last lap overtake on Alpine's Pierre Gasly, and Helmut Marko's comments fearing a potential Verstappen exit from Red Bull as reference to ask the possible reasons why the Dutchman could end up leaving the team.

"I don't know. To be honest. I just keep working, keep trying to improve the car. Now, naturally, Bahrain wasn't a great weekend for us. I think we were all pretty disappointed with that. And yeah, we just keep on trying to improve the car, come up with new ideas to try on the car, competition and stuff. And yeah, that's how I go about my weeks. You know, just trying to improve the situation."

Croft, not happy with Verstappen's response to his question then tried to force the issue, and only got a fast-paced quip by the Dutch world champion instead.

"No, I think just focus on commentating. I'll focus on driving. And then, you don't need to think about any other scenarios." To which the Briton replied: "We just worry about you."

Ralf Schumacher has also discussed at length a potential Max Verstappen move to another team, naming potential candidates, amongst which are McLaren, Mercedes, Aston Martin, and Alpine as well, to which Gasly responded in a question asked by GPblog.

According to the German former F1 driver, the reigning world champion's decision on his F1 future would rest on the update package by Red Bull Racing, planned to be implemente on the RB21 for the Imola Grand Prix.

Should it prove unsuccessful, then according to Schumacher, Verstappen would then take his leave from the Austrian team's ranks.
