Marko hits hard at Norris: 'Don't people know that Piastri is stronger?'

Helmut Marko is not a huge fan of Lando Norris's. In fact, the Red Bull Racing advisor considered Norris to be a step behind his younger teammate, Oscar Piastri.

In Formula 1, the car makes or breaks the race. No matter how good a driver they are, if the team can not provide them a top-tier car, their chances of winning are slim. This is something that Marko also thinks. Speaking to OE24, Marko answered questions about the McLaren team and how they are winning.

Marko doesn't understand Papaya Rules

On the topic of which of the two drivers deserved to win, Marko expressed his opinion that Piastri was the better driver and deserved to win over his teammate, Norris.

"But we already know that, that's nothing new," said the Red Bull advisor.

Marko also mentioned the Japanese Grand Prix and how Piastri was not allowed to pass Norris. Why they were not allowed to, he does not know. He said, "That's also a mystery to me. But I'm not familiar with the so-called Papaya Rules (McLaren's internal rules, ed.)."

Could McLaren have won if Piastri had been able to have a go at Verstappen without Norris in the way? Or was Piastri barely holding his own against his teammate?
