Max Verstappen surprised everyone yesterday by setting a brilliant lap in Q3 to take a stunning pole position. Oscar Piastri seemed on his way to P1, but eventually fell short by a hundredth of a second compared to the Dutchman.
Behind the two that qualified on the front row, George Russell will be looking for a fourth podium in five races as he starts P3, while Charles Leclerc in fourth will want to turn around Ferrari's poor start to the campaign.
Russell's teammate Kimi Antonelli starts in P5, while a fine lap from Carlos Sainz in the Williams puts him in P6, right in front of the man that replaced him at Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton, with the seven-time world champion still struggling at the Scuderia.
Yuki Tusnoda and Pierre Gasly come in P8 and P9, respectively, while Lando Norris, who was competitive all weekend, failed in Q3, crashing hard into the barriers with his McLaren and therefore starts from P10.
There have been no changes up and down the grid since qualifying, and as a result, the official starting grid has no changes to it.
