Nyck de Vries had a Grand Prix without any crazy moments, but the end result was the same as in recent weeks: in the rear. Once again, the AlphaTauri was not fast enough. Moreover, De Vries appeared to have a problem after the safety car, which meant that a better classification than spot 17 (and last) was out of the question.
What exactly was there? "At the end of the race after the long safety car, we had an issue which I'm not aware of yet," De Vries told during a moment with the Dutch press, including GPblog. "We were just not strong at all in the last stint so we'll need to understand what happened. Apparently there are some explanations already."
Williams picked up points again with Albon. Not long ago, the English team was behind AlphaTauri in the constructors' standings. Meanwhile, the Italians are decidedly last. Everyone is better than AlphaTauri. De Vries on that: "Well we obviously have great hopes. We try to do the best job we can and try to make as much progress as we can but nobody is sitting still and everyone is bringing performance, so it's a competitive industry and we just got to make sure we keep our head down and do the best we can to make up ground and not lose ground."
AlphaTauri also introduced updates again at Silverstone. Given the result, these had little effect. "I would say with the same approach as we've done from the beginning of the season. We continue to work hard together and analyse what we've done, and try to improve little steps by little steps, and that's all we can do," De Vries said.
