Valtteri Bottas was clearly not happy with the result of the Russian Grand Prix, as the Finn was ordered to let Lewis Hamilton past instead of him getting his first win of the season.

The Mercedes driver did very well to get pole position on Saturday and maintaining P1 on Sunday in the initial stages of the race, sustaining some pressure from Hamilton early-on.

He drove in second place for a large chunk of the race behind Max Verstappen, who hadn't come in for new tyres yet, but was then ordered to let Hamilton past. James Vowles, strategist at Mercedes, explained to Bottas that Hamilton's tyres were degrading quickly, and the team couldn't risk him being right in front of Sebastian Vettel.

Bottas let Hamilton past, but then wasn't given back his place in the end when he asked.

He tried his best to keep his emotions in check at the trackside interview after the race, but he clearly wasn't happy.

"A difficult day," he told Paul Di Resta.

"A good result for us as a team and we got maximum points but personally, it was quite a difficult race.

"We always go through all the scenarios, Lewis is fighting for the championship and we are fighting for the constructors', so we always have a plan - but it's always difficult to predict what's going to happen in the race.

"It is what it is."
