Jan Lammers thinks that we should not completely rule out Max Verstappen in the Formula 1 World Championship yet. The Dutchman suggests that Verstappen could still get involved in the title fight, provided Red Bull manages to solve the problems.

It has not escaped anyone's notice that the clock is currently ticking for Red Bull Racing. The Austrian team has had a difficult start to the season, and it knows that something must change quickly if the team wants to prevent Verstappen from looking for a new team. The four-time world champion Verstappen himself made it clear after the quali in Bahrain that he does not see himself as a title candidate. However, Lammers is not so sure about that, as he told GPblog.

"Yes, that's the famous crystal ball," he answered to the question whether Verstappen can become champion in 2025. It all depends, according to the former driver, on whether Red Bull succeeds in getting to the bottom of it."If they figure it out all at once, yes," he stated. "And that might be just one session of one day in the wind tunnel. That they try something at once and see a result at once that makes them certain, before they hit the track: 'Well, this is going to be much better.'"

Can Red Bull Follow McLaren?

Lammers then pointed to the big rival, who has also managed to achieve this in the past. "We have experienced that period with McLaren. They dared to announce before their update that things were going to get better, and then it actually did."

The 68-year-old driver stated that it's high time for Red Bull to find some improvement. "That is indeed an improvement that Red Bull really needs right now. Because yes, Max wants to be in a winning car at a winning team, and if Red Bull can't provide that, he's naturally going to start looking around."
