Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera has reported that an extension from Kimi Raikkonen at Ferrari is imminent, as the team could be announcing the Finn's new deal in a matter of days or even hours.

It was previously thought that Raikkonen would be calling it a day in the F1 and hang up his gloves, but his inspiring performances this year have flipped the script completely. The 2007 champion has looked better than ever and gives vital feedback for the Ferrari's development, making him a vital part of the Italians' success this season.

The same source also reported that Charles Leclerc, who was initially linked to Raikkonen's seat, will now be stalled at Haas next season, where he'll be replacing Romain Grosjean to team up with Kevin Magnussen.

And because of thát, Sauber's empty seat has a number of candidates, including Ferrari junior Antonio Giovinazzi and McLaren's Stoffel Vandoorne. Should Vandoorne go to Sauber, McLaren will also have an empty seat, but who will fill that place next to Carlos Sainz, only time can tell.
