Lando Norris' performance in Jeddah has not earned him praise, certainly not from former F1 driver and team principal, Christijan Albers who sees how Lewis Hamilton 'embarrassed' the McLaren driver out of the podium
DRS games were once again seen in Saudi Arabia. Where in 2022 it was Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc starring in a strategic DRS battle, this time it was Norris and Hamilton.
“The first time should already be embarrassing enough, but to have it happen again a second time… It just cost a lot of time. This also caused him to lose connection with Leclerc, and that basically cost him a podium place.”
But Albers sees McLaren not capitalising on their advantage. “McLaren fails to assert their dominance. Just make sure everything is organized well from A to Z. Make sure your strategy people are on it, ensure your engineers are on top of it, and most importantly, make sure your drivers are on top of it. And here we’ve just seen several examples where it takes too long.”
