The FIA will do nothing about McLaren's attempt to reverse Lando Norris' penalty in Canada. The McLaren driver was penalised for unsportsmanlike conduct, so the FIA will not go back on that. The Englishman was given a five-second penalty for holding up Williams driver Alexander Albon.
It emerged on Saturday morning that McLaren's team representative was expected to have coffee with the stewards on Sunday. Norris deliberately left a gap behind the safety car, according to stewards. The Briton himself obviously did not agree, and neither did the team. So the protest came to nothing.
On Sunday afternoon, Norris will start from the second row of the grid in fourth place. The McLaren driver is currently 11th in the world championship, but can obviously change that at the Austrian Grand Prix. With a starting spot on the second row of the grid, anything is possible in Spielberg.
