Red Bull and Verstappen warned about becoming a midfield team

It's been a tough start to the season for Red Bull and Max Verstappen, even with the Dutchman's fine win at the Japanese Grand Prix, with the RB21 continuing to be a handful for everyone involved with it.

With the new regulations that are coming into the pinnacle of motorsport for the 2026 season, new engines for the Austrian team will be used, working in collaboration with Ford to create their own powertrain.

With that, there is a worry from former F1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya, wondering whether Red Bull will continue with their downward trend to be "running where Williams are running" next season, then having a discussion about the potential move of Verstappen to Mercedes.

Former F1 driver sees Hamilton leaving Ferrari early

Lewis Hamilton has also had a tricky start to the 2025 season after making the huge move from Mercedes to the Scuderia for this campaign.

It was thought he would be chasing his record-breaking eighth world title, but apart from his sprint race win at the Chinese Grand Prix, there jas not been a lot of joy for the Brit, not able to get above P5 in any Grands Prix.

Now, there are some people believing that the 40-year-old may not see out his contract at the Italian team, with former Toro Rosso driver Jaime Algusurai saying that he "has a feeling that Hamilton is going to leave".

Horner relieves 'highlight of Red Bull's  history" with 2021 title

Christian Horner has seen a lot of success in recent years, thanks to Max Verstappen's four consecutive drivers' titles, along with two constructors' wins in 2022 and 2023 too.

The record-breaking year of 2023 may never be seen in F1 history ever again, but that is not what the team boss sees as Red Bull's best moment.

The 2021 championship that saw Verstappen earn his maiden title is "the highlight of the team's history", says Horner, beating out Hamilton with a last-lap overtake at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to give the Austrian team their first drivers' title since 2013.
